WAV Format Preferences allow you to set up how output WAV files are encoded. This tab allows you to set up the WAV Codec, Sample Rate, and Channels.

To open the WAV Format Preferences tab, choose 'Preferences' in the Application Menu, and select the Format tab.

WAV Codec

Select 'Automatic Selection' when the WAV codec should be assigned automatically to ‘PCM 8 bit’, ‘PCM 16 Bit', 'PCM 24 Bit', or 'PCM 32 Bit’, depending on the Bit Depth of the source audio. 'Automatic Selection' is the default preferred setting for the WAV codec.

The list of supported codecs that can be used when converting to WAV format:

  • PCM 8 Bit
  • PCM 16 Bit
  • PCM 24 Bit
  • PCM 32 Bit
  • PCM 32 Bit Floating Point
  • G.711 A-Law
  • G.711 μ-Law
  • ADPCM IMA
  • ADPCM Microsoft
  • GSM 6.10 / Microsoft Variant

 

Sample Rate

Select 'As Source' when encoded audio should have the same Sample Rate as the source audio. This is the default preferred setting.

A fixed Sample Rate can also be set from 8000 to 192000 Hz. If the Sample Rate of the source audio differs from the selected fixed Sample Rate, the output audio will be resampled.

Channels

Select 'As Source' when encoded audio should have the same number of channels as the source audio. This is the default preferred setting.

A fixed number of channels can also be set to:

  • Mono (1 Channel). If the source audio has more than one channel, it will be downmixed to a mono channel.
  • Stereo (2 Channels). If the source audio has more than two channels, it will be downmixed to a stereo format.

Tags Format

The Tags Format in output WAV files can be set to:

  • ID3v2.4, Info - output WAV file will contain metadata both in WAV Info and ID3v2.4 formats.
  • ID3v2.4 - output WAV file will contain metadata in ID3v2.4 format only.
  • Info - output WAV file will contain metadata in WAV Info format only. Please note that the WAV Info format is limited and cannot accommodate artworks and the majority of text tags.

The Tags Format has no effect when the option 'Strip tags from converted files' is enabled in Preferences / Tags.
