Description

Tag Editor is a handy spreadsheet for audio tagging and organizing.

You can automatically download music metadata and album covers; convert file and folder names into audio tags; batch edit, copy-paste, find-replace, and clean up tags; import and refresh Apple Music or iTunes metadata; batch rename and organize songs into folders according to their artists, albums, and other tags; create playlists; transfer audio across your devices.
The straightforward interface allows all these batch actions in one spreadsheet with complete change control.

Tag Editor supports MP3, AIFF, WAV, FLAC, MP4, and M4A files.
The app can read all ID3 tags in MP3 files and saves changes in 2.3 or 2.4 versions, with or without ID3 v1 tags. You also can save WAV tags in WAV/Info and ID3 formats. Adding ID3 to XIPH/Vorbis tags in FLAC files allows displaying FLAC artworks in Finder.
Tag Editor can import files from the Music app or iTunes, M3U and other playlists, CUE sheets, and shortcuts.

You can edit and load 60+ audio tags, including Album, Album Artist, Artist, Artwork, Comment, Copyright, Genre, Grouping, Key, Lyrics, Title, Track Number, Year, and others.
For your convenience, tags are organized into thematic or functional sets like Music & iTunes, Network & Paths, Audio and File Properties, Artwork, Classical, Commerce, Mood, People, Podcast, and Sorting.
15+ technical properties, such as Audio Format, Sample Rate, Bit Rate, Channels, and others, can be displayed and used to create tags.

AUTO-SEARCH & DOWNLOAD SONG INFO & ALBUM COVERS from MusicBrainz and CoverArt online services. Tag Editor can identify songs without any tags using AcoustID music-recognizing technology. In addition, you can specify whether to download missing tags only or update existing metadata.

EXTRACT TAGS FROM FILENAMES & PATHS automatically using the 'Load Tags > From Paths' command or selecting a correct component from the contextual 'Load ... from path' menu.

IMPORT APPLE MUSIC METADATA, including Rating and Plays, as regular ID3 or MP4 tags using the 'Edit > Load Tags > From Music' command.

SET ARTWORKS by dragging an image from Finder or a browser and dropping it into selected artwork cells. You can even paste an audio file to set its artwork as other tracks' cover art.

EDIT, CUT, COPY-PASTE, CLEAR using single or multiple-selection.

FIND-REPLACE through the entire sheet or within a selection.

CLEAN UP TAGS of wrong encoding, extra spaces, and characters such as leading digits, text in brackets, and punctuation at the start and end of tags.

FIX CASE to unify your tags. You can apply Capitalize Every Word, Sentence case, lowercase, or UPPERCASE options to the entire sheet or selection.

REMOVE AUDIO TAGS COMPLETELY from selected tracks using the 'File > Strip Tags' command.

RENAME AUDIO FILES using custom metadata pattern of Artist, Album, Album Artist, Title, Composer, Year, Comment, Track #, Tracks Total, Disc #, Disc Total, Genre, Grouping, Category, Mood, Key, and BPM tags. You can also edit selected filenames manually by typing, find-replace, and copy-paste.

ORGANIZE MUSIC INTO FOLDERS by its metadata with the 'Export To > Folder' function.

CREATE M3U PLAYLISTS using the 'Export To > Playlist File...' menu.

EASY AND QUICK TAGGING:

CUSTOMIZE COLUMNS with 'View'> 'Column.' Hide, show, resize, and rearrange columns to concentrate on required tags & file properties.

MANAGE ROWS by sorting, filtering, and moving them between windows. Use Move Up (⌥↑) and Down (⌥↓) commands to change tracks' order.

SELECT single cell, multiple cells, columns, rows, or entire sheet to apply changes.

CONTROL ALL CHANGES highlighted with grey fill using Revert and Save commands.

LISTEN to TRACKS within the editor using Quick Look.

WOW, this is AWESOME!

This is the best bulk tag editor I have used, so much better than MP3Tag I used to use on my PC, I have since switched to Mac only and could not be happier with this app, it is so easy to drag whole CDs of media from the finder to Tag Editor then select all image column and drag a photo from safari google search image select all my clicking top left corner of the finder window hit save then remove and BOOM... Done! The Find all non-empty columns feature is the best for finding unwanted junk tags etc. The only thing missing is the ability to edit iTunes new M4a tags for the "Clean" "Explicit" tags, but that does work in the beta version, hopefully the app store version will be updated, so if you need that feature go to the Amvidia web site for the beta version. I have found no bugs and have used this app extensively! The find data from file path or from internet works awesome and even can pull in artwork (though I prefer to get that form a google image search, it is much faster than my method so you may like that more than I do). The editor allows you to edit even the file name! Copy, past to and from columns and other apps with ease, click save and its done. There are many useful functions too like reload, revert, replace, move the list goes on and on. If you are on the fence on getting this editor and another our I would look no further, this app has everything you need to edit MP3, M4a and even Wave file tags.

A Must Have App, Changed My Life!!!

After a couple years of searching and wanting to organize my music collection, this app has single handedly helped improve my time by 85%! When I began this project a decade ago, I renamed my music files manually on the file level, and would go back into iTunes and update the file’s metadata tags again. It became such a tedious time sucking experience, this project didn’t last long. Until I came across this App recently, it solved the GAP that I desperately needed. I have tried a few other freeware Apps out there, and none of them performed to the STEALTH and SPEED AS THIS APP HAS! It never crashed, and the updates did exactly how it was supposed to perform. Within a good 2 hours of playing around and cleansing my folders, I was able to shave something that would have costed me 10 months of work (few hours every weekend) down to just 2 hours - based on the # of files and folders I was working with. I give credit where it’s due and this App thus far has been the best I’ve come across. The UE and GUI both are great, intuitive, and learning curve is minimal. I tried it out first with its freeware and withn minutes I figured out how to use it enough to be dangerous. Love this app, keep up the great work developing Tag Editor! 10/10 from me.

Favorite Metadata Editor

I got this software on a whim when my go-to was no longer supported by my operating system. This has stood by me for years and it is worth every single penny. Having the ability to add Explicit tags is by far my favorite feature because I prefer lossless music to add to my iTunes with all the metadata AND having the ability to differenciate my explicit and non-explicit songs. Until recently, that wasn't all possible because apple did not support lossless downoads so you either were purchasing a 256kbps song with tags or lossless with no tags. This also saves me so much time when I need to edit multiple songs, I can't really imagine how they could make it even better. I highly recommend this if you prefer to have an organized library entirely done by yourself, because let's be honest, the automated systems aren't perfect and sometimes you're left with mispellings, missing data, missing artwork and subpar quality. Having this Tag Editor is a life saver!
